An Avatar and A Digital Identity May Be the First Step Towards Being Immortal

We all (especially the younger generations) will be destined to have an avatar. Just as we have a mobile number, an email inbox or a social media profile. This will be one of the impacts of technology for us. Starting with the Metaverse. The billionaire companies are racing to build the most beautiful, realistic, and interactive ones. Having an avatar of ourselves in the virtual world will be a way to extend our identity. In addition to our private property (or rather virtual property). If we have a character identical to us in a parallel world, we will be able to realize our life superimposed on the real one. But above all, our character that we will build will be immortal. There are many reasons why we will all sooner or later build an avatar in the Metaverse. For example, we will be inclined to do it to feel more connected with others. Just as we already do - certainly not all, but most of them - with Facebook, Instagram or TikTok. It will be an extension of our experiences and encounters. Now, I will explain to you one by one what these avatars will look like and why we will need them. THE AVATAR WILL BE MORE THAN OUR IMAGE You will probably be able to create an avatar with a selfie, or something like that. There will be programs that will create a perfect image of us. You know someone will build the perfect version of themselves. Eh, it'll be fun to do that too. The artificial intelligence will then step in to give a touch of greater personality to our character living in the virtual world. Maybe every time we wear those clothes - with visors and imitation leather - we shape that avatar from time to time in our image and likeness. This will be very important. Let me explain why. "To facilitate immersion, the avatar must have the same characteristics of movement and gestures as the user". This is because when others see us in business meetings, for example, they will almost see a twin of us. So our communication will also be truly consistent. You will know that non-verbal communication is just as important as verbal and expressive communication. Another example, today when we meet partners both on social media and with special applications, this experience will be even better with an avatar. You will also understand what that girl you meet is like. More than what you would understand with a chat, two photos on Instagram, and maybe even better than a video call. I have only given two examples that convey the idea of the power of our avatar. In the internet of the future, think of the infinite possibilities that it can give us.

THE AVATAR WILL BE MORE THAN OUR IMAGE

You will probably be able to create an avatar with a selfie, or something like that. There will be programs that will create a perfect image of us.

You know someone will build the perfect version of themselves. Eh, it’ll be fun to do that too.

A STARTUP ALREADY CREATING VIRTUAL CLONES

Keep an eye out for Hour One, an Israeli startup that is making replicas of people with avatars created using artificial intelligence.

Digital copies that are virtually identical to you. They will talk about education. They could be marketers to sell something.

“An avatar will be able to speak for you in a digital broadcast when you are at home watching TV.”

“There is definitely an interest in the metaverse and we are experimenting in the game space and with photorealism,” explained Natalie Monbiot, development manager of Hour One.

“We already have several versions of ourselves appearing in social media and different social channels. We already represent ourselves in this kind of digital realm. We believe our virtual selves will become even more independent.

Would you like to put them to work for you? Maybe to take advantage of this? You know, that old saying that we can’t be in two places at the same time?

Now, I believe it will no longer be true.

An Avatar and A Digital Identity May Be the First Step Towards Being Immortal

YOU CAN DO THINGS YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ON EARTH

Our avatar will have a life parallel to ours that is not necessarily like ours.

It will be a character who is born and may never die.
Develop relationships in the business and human-communication fields. You will live in a real house that will have to be built or bought by us.

“ Thanks to the fact that our avatar will have a certain autonomy (but also without this) we can make him do what we wish we would have been doing on Earth. Experiences that we have never tried of everyday life or more complex “.

So, all this has two implications:

– For some it is protection in the face of a frightening reality and problems that they are unable to deal with.

– For others a way to escape the monotony of a life that appears boring and gray.

– For others, the opportunity they had been looking for for a lifetime to try. The experiences that we had never had the courage to do.

MICROSOFT TEAMS ARE CREATING AN IMMERSIVE SPACE

The first avatars created will be for attending business meetings.

Even before a true metaverse arrives, we will need our digital twin.

Microsoft’s bosses have explained.
It is the case of a more simplified digital character who will take our place even when the camera is off and you only use your voice.

“We have been hit by the fatigue in the virtual world,” explained Nicole Herskowitz, general manager of Microsoft Teams.

“After 30 or 40 minutes at the most in a meeting, it’s very difficult to stay engaged and focused.”

Microsoft has in fact announced several new features for Teams:

“Among the most interesting tools is the integration between Mesh (virtual experience platform) and the application for meetings, which will allow users to make video calls in 3D environments”.

They hope Mesh helps a lot in reducing the cognitive overload of having to be on video calls all day

Microsoft will use artificial intelligence to hear the participants’ voices and then animate the avatar.

These animations will also include the raising of the avatar’s hands when pressing the “Raise Hand” option or animate the emojis around the avatar.

The promise is that Microsoft Teams will be able to start using these virtual spaces and avatars in the first half of 2022.

“The goal is that by the first half of this year you will be able to enter an immersive space and thus be able to collaborate and use Microsoft tools, “the company says,” Teams leaders concluded.

In short, it’s incredibly cool. I am an almost millionaire Italian entrepreneur and during the various lockdowns I really wanted to be able to utilize such a tool with my collaborators.

I am sure on many occasions virtual reality will make our work easier. As well as having an avatar more and more like us. Maybe even better. To perfectly represent a space that will have so much importance and impact in our lives.
