A brilliant mind and innovation. This is a real entrepreneur who can design, put into practice, test, and starts from scratch until the donuts come out with the hole.

This is JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby Aviation. An electric air taxi startup based in Santa Cruz, California. A company he founded and became a billionaire.

But the road for JoeBen was by no means smooth, there were tight and winding curves.

I’m just saying, he has done over a thousand remotely piloted test flights of his battery-powered five-seat aircraft prototypes. There were moments of frustration for him in which he never believed he could do great things …

But, he did it and today he’s the Mark Zuckerberg or the Elon Musk of air taxis. All thanks to his principles and way of doing things that teach everyone a great lesson. As you continue reading I will explain it to you so that you too, can use it.

For now, let’s find out more about his life. Where does he come from and what experiences has he had. Because he’s really a character, we’ll talk more about that later.

Imagine, a little while ago he claims of flying 150 miles on a single charge of the aircraft’s battery: this is the longest distance any electric air taxi has ever traveled.

HE WANTED TO BUILD PLANES FROM A VERY YOUNG AGE

Bevirt grew up in a remote area called Last Chance. His family was part of a Hippie community where members grew their own food.

They did this on land purchased in 1970 by his mother, Paula Fry, his father, Ron Bevirt, and writer Gurney Norman.

In short, he grew up in an environment of humble people, nothing close to technology and progress. A way of living tied to the past and frozen in time.

Perhaps it played a key role in his ability to have vision and imagination. Creating the ability to go outside the box of his current world and think in his own way.

“In fact, Bevirt explained that he first thought of building a flying machine in second grade”.

He did this on his way home, trudging up a steep 4.5-mile road along the Pacific Coast Highway. In short, a tiring stretch he was forced to walk, every day because the bus left him far from home.

“It was an endless hill and it made me dream of a better way to get around”, Bevirt said.

He got the chance to make his dream come true and build perfect drones when an investment of $ 1.1 billion came in.

Money funneled into his project thanks to the merger between Joby Aviation and the company Reinvent Technology Partners.

Recently there was also someone really big to support him. I’m talking about Toyota Motor, which has invested about $ 400 million in the company.

They like his design and stubbornness so much that others invested money to see JoeBen’s drones fly.

Including:

1 – Pinterest’s Paul Sciarra 2 – Capricorn Investment Group’s billionaire Jeff Skoll 3 – Intel

Joby’s next goal is to get people (lots of them) on his flights to prove that they are truly safe to carry the public.

They hope to receive certification in 2023.

Subsequently, they want to market thousands of aircraft a year for many cities where this air mobility and vertical ports will be the first to be developed.

JoeBen’s crowning achievement:

“In 2018 he received the Haueter Award for his technical contribution to the development of VTOL aircraft”.

In fact, it has 30 US patents

THE GOLDEN RULE OF THOMAS EDISON

Legend has it that Edison failed 1000 times before inventing the perfect and working light bulb.

This story has been the core of JoeBen’s life as an entrepreneur. He made this rule his own …

Bevirt is now 47 years old and worth $1.8 billion. He has achieved this thanks to his PERSEVERANCE.

He had been working on his taxi drones since 2009. His goal was to develop an aircraft that can take off and land perfectly vertical.

An essential aspect for confined urban environments and the ability to transition to flying efficiently like the wings of an airplane.

It is in the big cities full of skyscrapers and buildings where these vehicles will have to maneuver themselves. Traffic jams will be unnecessary, air taxis will take people where they need to go.

To do this he did hundreds of test flights. Made changes, more test flights. Tweaking errors and miscalculations.

After the bankruptcy, he continued to improve his drones.

All it takes is persistence to become a successful entrepreneur.

This is how a successful businessman behaves, bringing value to his company as he achieves milestones in the face of difficulty.
